“The photo that you see is of a place called Parc Sauvé in Valleyfield, Quebec, where Maurice Duplessis, a bachelor obviously unknowing of the value of woman, made a statement that triggered my political life, way back then. And I quote his statement: ‘If you want to keep your women, keep them pregnant and ignorant.’ And of course, only men were there.
“When I asked my father, ‘Is he talking about Mom?’ my father replied, ‘When you become a man, you’ll understand these things.’ And now I am this man. My aim is to remove from politics, the disrespect of woman which destroys the family and gives us broken marriages, criminality and more. Of course you remember the Residential Schools issue where the fathers had to learn, as boys, how to rule over women with iron fists and paddles. So if that was the past political experience of our leaders, I’m glad I never went to their schools, but now we will bring justice to women and restore the family.”
Roger Poisson worked nine years for the S.S. Kresge Company, where he also developed the beginnings of K-Mart in Canada. While he earned his living, looking after those that he cared for to the best of his ability, he always kept an eye on the political situation in Canada and the world. He noticed that things were getting worse and that women were being made lesser and lesser by the men who were behaving as bachelors - prohibiting life while increasing their own pleasures, thus degrading the family, increasing criminality and further running down the status of women.
It was in 1989 that Roger firmly dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate. Since then and until his passing on March 6th, 2011, Roger worked unceasingly helping anyone with problems, no matter how severe. He was guided by the belief that the hearts and lives of people could change for the better. Roger was not paid to do this work. He held no bank account in his name and had no savings. He existed on donations from others.
In Winnipeg what began by helping individuals in desperate need of hope and compassion developed into a small outreach mission which eventually became known as the Mission of the Shroud. It was founded as a non-profit organization with the intent of helping anyone without discrimination and without cost; and to assist people spiritually with their daily lives while respecting everyone’s belief, faith, origin or sex.
Roger worked among the native peoples (First Nations of Canada), in Winnipeg and especially on the Sandy Bay Reservation. He was and is still most highly regarded, esteemed and loved by the native peoples for his dedication and loving ministry to them and to their cause.
The Mission was oriented towards respect for the human being and as they say ‘if you build it they will come.’ More and more people became drawn to the Mission and today, the Mission of the Shroud continues to maintain its status as described here above and all for the purpose of a better world.
Soon the Mission’s outreach was no longer exclusive to Manitoba. As the need grew, the Mission grew to include the other provinces. Eventually the Mission’s outreach extended beyond Canada’s borders - to the U.S. and overseas. In order to reach people, his travels had taken Roger around the world. There are many people in many countries connected to Roger's work as the Mission of the Shroud where his spirit continues to work in people's lives.
As things worsened not only in Canada but everywhere it became clear that this small Mission begun in Winnipeg could no longer keep up with the demands of a nation and a world seeking a blueprint for peace, happiness and prosperity. With the Mission firmly established, it was time for another arm to reach out in service to the needy. The idea of a political venture at the Federal level became realized in 2004. This would be a co-venture powered by the same spirit as the Mission of the Shroud. This political venture is known today as the People’s Political Power of Canada.
Through the PPP, Roger continued to touch many hearts. Many have been moved by the realization that someone loves them. Roger loved everyone and he wanted everyone to know how important each one of us is in the lives of others; be it family, friends or strangers. He wanted everyone to know that each one of us has the ability to love and the power to continue this movement of love until all of Canada and the world is transformed. He wanted us to work together and continue in the spirit of love we give to one another to bring unity to a broken world.
From 1989 to the time of his death on March 6, 2011, Roger was learning how to father a nation, spending sometimes twenty hours a day, seven days a week, listening to people who were down and out and lacking opportunities to begin a new life. He was there for many women without spouses but with children, whose lives were shattered and degraded because of the promotion of pornography. Now the goal of this political venture was to become the father of the nation and make Canada a family - no more a country or a nation, but a family.
The Foundation of the policies of the People’s Political Power is: ‘family to the absolute’. The father and mother figures must respect each other and the children, teaching them to love. Children will recognize love from their parents because they will all fall in love together. The vision of this family for Canada is not with racism, false billboards of unity and The Museum of Human Rights, which is in Winnipeg. Human rights have no good standing in Canada. The PPP brings unity by educating the nation in the purpose of life and existence.
Roger was a hard worker, who would listen to the less fortunate ones, who were most in need of a family unit. To this day, not one politician in Canada since Confederation, has ever envisioned every member of this nation as his child, regardless of race, background, criminality, sexual orientation or religion. Not one man is greater than the other, neither heads of the churches, nor the heads of the nations. A family must be headed by one that will devote their every breath to the well-being of the children.
We have given you a brief overview of J. F. Roger Poisson. Errors were made in the past, but they became learning experiences. However, when politicians keep repeating mistakes because of uncaring and not respecting those who trust in them, Canada will not function. Canada must be a united family. If anyone wanted to resist this idea, Roger would approach him or her to be convinced that that their way was good for everyone. If it was, he could accept it. If it wasn’t, he would defy it. ‘The people come first.’
The PPP was never to be ‘just a party’. No, it has always been a family first and foremost with no exclusions. All are brothers and sisters – not just members and supporters – but everyone. We are all family and all our opinions are respected equally. The PPP is you, the people!
Roger, our friend and our father, is with us still. His spirit remains and it is by this spirit that the PPP will continue…by Love, Respect, Equality and Truth until everyone is happy. Thank you for all your support. We will continue to preserve and protect the spirit of this family.
To those who are new – you won’t be disappointed. Give us a chance to share what we have with you. Love for one another generates its own policies and directives in serving one another and working together. And it is your happiness that drives us.
