Why Do We Say That the Pope is Sinning?

March 29, 2010

Many years ago when Jesus was living and before He died (and He’s living again), He gave an answer to a farmer who asked Him what should be done about the weeds in his field.
“Recognize the weeds that are there but leave them for a while, or else when you pull them out, the good plants will come out with them.  Let them get stronger.  Everything is too weak.  When the plants become strong, then throw out the bad ones and continue.”
When people wished to kill Jesus, He said, “Don’t feel sad for me.  I feel sorry for you, because you are already weak.  I told you the story of the farmer and the weeds, but you don’t believe me.”

Many years ago, the Romans were war-like.  Only a few people believed in Jesus rather than in the Roman leader.  They had to hide to pray together, without telling others anything.  As well, the mother of Jesus had to hide Her son’s burial shroud after He died, so that the Roman authorities wouldn’t destroy it.  A few of the Roman people believed in Jesus but they too had to hide their belief.  When they saw the Shroud, they believed more.  The cloth became so sacred.  The few who believed told Her to leave the country and take it with Her.  Even though the Romans had killed Him at first, Peter was told that Rome would become like a rock.  After Peter chose to be crucified upside down, more people started to change.  Some believed; some did not.  But how many years ago was that?

The rich don’t give a damn for God.  The poor have become more powerful in their faith. The rich see money as a god – gold and adoration of themselves.  But the poor serve God.  The Mass began with those who had money but now it is the poor who recognize the gift of peace and love.

Today, there is something powerful to learn from the Spirit.
How many people say that they are honest?  You have too much pride.  Humble yourselves and learn who you are.  You used to sin but now you recognize that you are more important than sinning -  you become so clean to recognize the gift of love.

I was in Toronto and Ottawa when I asked the Bishop this:
“Let’s say that I was married but was sinning all day with someone else.  My wife had been thinking I was a saintly man. But, Bishop, you knew the truth.  Are you a liar?  Should you say the truth so that the two of us can become stronger in our marriage?”

But Jesus had given us the story of the weeds.  Learn more by leaving the bad ones.  You are guided to become stronger with the weeds.  The strong ones will become better than the sinning ones, with the learning that comes after.
Jesus said, “I feel sorry for people.  Don’t cry for me.  You are so scared.  It’s impossible to change the world because you don’t care or you think that it’s too tough to change the world.”
It’s why He said, “At the end of the world, people won’t believe anything from God.  There will be sinning and homosexuality.”
Not one person from Canada or the world can say the truth.  I remember from conferences in different cities in Canada, people said to me, “You’re a phoney.  You say there will be miracles, but there aren’t any.”
I spoke with them saying, “Are you honest with God?  Say the truth - either you are clean or you’re a hypocrite.  You plan to sin.  Is there one who is truly honest with God and loves each other, without sinning at all?”
Not one said, “I’m clean.”
Instead they said, “You’re too tough.”
And they were out the door – too proud to be honest.

It’s why the Pope now makes us wonder, ‘Is he clean or not?’
It’s very important to learn something today.  Many years ago, there was a strong little nun who felt terrible for all the poor people she worked with and how many poor there were.  A very rich man contacted her and gave her a lot of money, though he wasn’t a big believer.  Everyone who learned of this said that the nun who accepted the money couldn’t possibly be with God.  This nun was Mother Teresa.

Even today, people are too hypocritical to say the truth.  They think, “I won’t tell anyone about my sinning.”
But if someone was raped, the same people would call the priest a hypocrite if he didn’t speak up about it.  But remember the story about the weeds and the plants.  You can’t do anything for the weak ones until you get stronger.
Jesus said, “I feel sorry for people.  They are not strong.  If you truly believe in me – you could change the whole world so that it wouldn’t be in suffering anymore.  They would live forever.”
But the truth is so tough, it is better to lie than to be judged ... you think.

In the Second World War, the Pope of the time hid Jewish people in the Vatican.  He said, “Don’t judge people from the past because I believe that the world will change one day.”
Even the current Pope did not sympathize with the war, though he was German.

Jesus gave another lesson.  When an adulterous woman was brought to him, He asked the crowd,
Which of you is without sin?  Throw the first stone.”
Everyone left to hide themselves.
“I’m not here to judge you, but change your lives because I believe that one day you will be clean.  My Father knows everything.”
God knows it is time to recognize the gifts of God through the Pope.  He gives up his life to teach people to recognize the gift of love by God.
Remember when Jesus saw a religious man He said, “Don’t keep a penny.  Come follow me... my birds aren’t afraid.  They know that they will have food.  You are more important than the birds to recognize the gift to love.”
He also said, “We know that one day people won’t believe in God anymore.”
This is why the ‘bad’ are continuing.  It makes us weak.
But the Spirit says, “Learn to be strong.  Don’t judge.”
People asked Him about the end of the world.
He answered, “A few will believe in me – others won’t ... no belief in the Mass, no love for each other. They will party.  You feel sad, but one or two are good enough to change the world.  If you find two, it is good enough to change the world.
My lambs ... a new baby is like a lamb who survives because a mother recognizes the gift.  A baby is also my lamb if the mother chooses to kill it or never have it. My lambs know who I am.  The lamb is so powerful because it tells the truth.  Lying is impossible.  It is not shy.  It starts to walk, just like a new baby, even though it makes mistakes.  And you say, ‘I’m proud of you!’

It’s very powerful to learn from the Spirit.
We are reminded of a story Jesus told:
A man has two sons.  One leaves because he likes to party and flirt.  He asked his father for all of his inheritance and then he left.  The other son, the brother, told his father, “My father, I love you.  I will work for you forever.  My brother is the bad one ... likes to party, is lazy and spends all of his money.  Be proud of me, my father.”
Some time after, the younger brother had spent all of his money and had become poor.
“I guess it’s time to go home because, I know that my father still loves me,” he thought.
“Throw him out the door!” the older brother said to his father.  “I work all day.”
But the father said, “Call all of your friends.  We’re going to have a big party.  My son is coming home.  He is changing his life.”
The other son was very angry... “He’s more important than me?  You’re throwing a party for him?”
Jesus said, “Recognize the gift of love.  There is no freedom without this.  It is better to be home to recognize ‘I feel I’m in heaven now.’”
God says, “Say ‘Hello’ to your children.  But first, teach them to listen... Say, “You can’t come home only because you are lonely and have nothing.  Recognize and respect me.  Work with Me.  Become one.”
Right away, you will become twins.  You missed each other.  Then, you will recognize how important you are to each other.  Congratulations.
“My son isn’t blind anymore!”
It is better to see, than to learn nothing.  And to your mother, you will say the same thing:
“It is a gift that my mother is there with me.”

Don’t be blind anymore – become one, forever.  This is why today, here, a young girl is heard to say, “I am blind no more.  I know that someone loves me.  I won’t be flirting anymore.  I am happier here ... it is time to go home.”

Congratulations.  University means that you learn forever.  Blessed are all of you.  And for the Pope ...

A lot of people don’t understand you.  But without you, or the Mass ... imagine – a newborn coming into the world, or someone dying and leaving the world – they will be like nothing.  A newborn becomes clean when the Spirit guides us to recognize the gift of God.  Or, you may become married so that you can learn to love more.  The Mass helps us to recognize the gift to love each other.  A true priest is there to teach people to recognize the gift of love.

Mass costs nothing.  The priests are there to serve people to recognize the gift of love.  So are we to have newborns, live together, finally die, and that’s it?  Then you’re out the door, and the next ones come?
We pray to God so that everyone will recognize these things with love.
Jesus said to His Father, “My Father – I’m scared.  They wish to kill me.  Don’t forget me.”
Then He died, was crucified – and became living again, because His Father felt, “I love you so much.  You gave Your life for everyone.  I cry for You.  One day You will come home with Me and judge people to recognize My love and who I am.  I know that You truly love Me to suffer for Me.  I will never forget You.  You will be in heaven with Me forever.”

What does the end of the world mean?  It means, ‘don’t be blind anymore.’  Recognize the gift to love.  Is it only a dream or is it normal to love?

Love is more powerful than the body.  You can’t see the Spirit, but you can feel it.  It’s a bit like being blind, but you aren’t ... you find love.
The Spirit says, “Thank you My Pope to continue with the survival of the Spirit.  You pray and you believe in people to change.  This is good enough for Me to change the world.”

And I say, “Thank you for teaching me that God is living – not only a dream.  I have seen the Spirit alive, because a long time ago, a priest believed in serving me.  I thank you my Pope.  I thank the rich, too, who have given to the poor and have changed already.  (Not bad for the ‘bad guys.’)

Congratulations to you Pope, who have not questioned God.  God knows who you are.
Blessed are you and blessed are all of us to learn from the Pope.  Congratulations.
