You are Breaking the Law Already

August 25, 2009

To:      Prime Minister Stephen Harper – Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Michael Ignatieff – Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Gilles Duceppe – Leader of the Bloc Québécois, Jack Layton – Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada, Elizabeth May – Leader of the Green Party of Canada, Canadian Members of Parliament

10/08/09

Members of the Government of Canada:

You are Breaking the Law Already.

We would like to bring to your attention that the Government is making a big mistake.  You are currently breaking the Law.  We expect a response.

You are breaking the Law at this moment, concerning people receiving social assistance.  They are given only enough money to pay the rent and buy food.  However, they are still allowed to gamble.
There is another Law that is being broken.  Most of the supporters of this Party are receiving social assistance.  They wish to support us, yet with the amount of money they are given by the Government, there is not enough for them to make a political donation.  The Government gives them only enough to survive.  Hundreds who believe in us are not able to support us.

In effect, you are keeping the poor powerless by not allowing them to have a voice for their needs.  On the other hand, you are legitimizing their gambling by tempting them.  The money they spend in vain goes back to you, the Government.

The Law concerning equality for all is now being broken.  I am informing you that I will proceed to meet with a judge unless this concern is presented as a Bill to be passed into Law, now.

Reply soon, or we will proceed to sue the Government of Canada.

Roger Poisson
Leader, People’s Political Power Party of Canada
