Dear Chris,
Thank you for writing us. I would like to answer your question about the murderers and pedophiles.
Today, I would like to tell you that it is time to recognize how important it is to change people, so that they can see how sacred change is. There are those who can help people, even if the people have been weak. But first, understand that we don’t say, “Open the prisons right away and let everyone go.” But when people recognize that they wish to change their lives, they can learn to be respectful of themselves and others. Right now, we have a group that can help with this. The Armed Services train people, so that with discipline, they can learn respect.
If a person has been given a sentence of five years (or more, depending on the crime), he or she can look forward to freedom one day with the discipline he or she could receive through the military. But when the sentence is over, and they are freed, there is to be no carrying over of their judgement. Once they have done the time and have learned to respect themselves and are working, it is time for them to really be free and recognize they have become very important. They are free and can contribute to the world. They have been given the opportunity to respect themselves, to work and to be with families again that are no longer afraid of them. Their records would be finished.
Today, we are learning nothing because the way the Justice System is set up. It is wasting our time and money. It is getting worse. The Army is tough but if you are a prisoner, you may be saying, “I wish to change my life, have no record and have pride in myself - because I can change.” People need to recognize a person has made mistakes, but that he wants to learn how to change and be free. Some have dreams to be free – to please a mother or father – to work and have pride in their hearts.
When we look for this and help it to become reality, those who are given the chance to change, forget the past, realize freedom, learn, and begin to take pride in themselves. The Army is very tough. Those in the military are not to be lazy and they must work to serve. We will be surprised to see men and women go through the training, wishing to be free, erasing their records and learning. We will see them learning to have respect, learning to work and believing in freedom.
The whole world has made mistakes, and so did I, but we are here to say that someone cares for these people. But first, they must recognize who they are, from the love of a father. Afterwards, we will be able to say, “Congratulations. You are my friend now. We can now share, talk and teach each other.” They will not be angry anymore. They will realize they have become good people and will finally feel free.
Right now, the future looks worse for these people because they say, “No one recognizes us for anything good, and never will.”
With the different perspective, they can understand that they can become like a father or mother again, like we are for them. The teaching may be tough, like from a father, but they will recognize the love is to make them strong. They will learn to be strong and talk with others. They need to believe that they have a future, if they wish to be happy. When their time is done, they should be free to talk to anybody and not be lonely anymore.
In doing this, we all learn to be fathers and mothers when we say, “You paid for the past. Your sentence is over. You can dream and it can become a reality for you.”
We can do this for each other if we also believe as they are taught to.
Sincerely,
Roger Poisson
